They know they know

by Katie Ayotte   Aug 11, 2005

They know, they know, she thought to herself, how can they not know?
She feels dirty and a shamed
She hangs her head low,
feels she is to blame.
She walks in silence
because of fright.
She only allows herself to cry
at night.
She feels as if the whole world can see the dirt she feels
upon her soul.
Is it me, is it me, am I so wrong.
She wanted to believe him,
it went on so long.
She forgot who she was and she lost sight until late one night.
She heard his steps coming down the hall and thought to herself,
this is the last time.
Tomorrow the world will know all.
