Are You Really Gone

by williamcampbell   Aug 12, 2005

I see your candles all around,
Our tvs on, making some sound,
My love for you does still abound,
Are you really gone?

Her makeup’s spread, across the room,
The dirt is swept under the broom,
Over me a dark cloud does loom,
Are you really gone?

Your curling iron is on the bed,
I can still hear the words you said,
There resonating in my head,
Are you really gone?

Your clothes are lying on the floor,
Our pictures hanging on the door,
Now deep inside pain starts to roar,
Are you really gone?
I see you lying on the bed,
I can not shake it from my head,
I hear the doctor say you’re dead
Are you really gone?

But then I hear a cry out loud,
I hold our child feeling so proud,
A cry from me escapes aloud,
You’re not really gone.
