DayDream

by Weeping Wolf   Aug 12, 2005

Just a day,
one more day
I sit alone on a log of a tree
I look over from my trance
and see a little girl
Just staring at me.

At the edge of the forest she softly calls to me
"Come with me, see what I see"
She said, singing simple words, words that had much more meaning than I would ever know.

And so I followed her until she stopped and said
"Please take my hand, we are going to my homeland"
So i look into her inquisitive eyes and took her hand.
She led me far into an open valley not an evil thing in sight and I though to myself that a place so pure as this must be her homeland.

Then before I knew she had placed something into the palm of my hand.
A butterfly suddenly flew free from my grasp and as I watched it it seemed strangely familiar...
Looking down I saw nothing but a footprint which was all that was left of the little girl that was a second ago standing there.
Softly I heard distant singing...ordinary familiar words "Come with me see what I see...do not flee from your life but learn to fly free..."

Light shining through
I wake up in my bed
Was that all in my head?
Where was my homeland?
A dream a girl a lesson
It all seemed so real
Did she ask me to hold her hand?
Did i really see her fly free?
From now on I will never have fear or flee
True insight that little dream girl will show
As I smile and watched the beautiful butterfly flutter out my window.
