In Our Youth

by Katie McCullick   Aug 12, 2005

Why do I get punished
for trusting my heart?
My love thats unconditional
was doomed from the start.

It hurts not to feel you in my
arms wrapped around so tight.
It pains me not to kiss you
each and every night.

I tried to move on but
I couldn't go on a date.
Its hard when I know
that you're my soulmate.

I'm keeping it inside for you,
I love you this much.
I know you have moved on while
I still long for your touch.

It kills me to keep my distance
but I know that we must part.
You got your second chance in life
and one day I'll get my start.

Maybe when we are older,
you'll finally see the truth.
You will realize that you messed up
when we were in our youth.
