The funeral

by tiffany   Aug 12, 2005

*really long but please read and r/c*

Men and women all dressed in black,
the children were there too,
their eyes red from crying,
their feelings all blue.

They sat in the pughes,
trying to hold back tears,
what had already happened
is one of everybody's fears.

When everyone was settled
in front off them rose a priest.
He looked sad and depressed;
to say the very least.

Swallowing a lump in his throat
and then proceeding to say,
"Robert Smith is the man,
we are gathered here for today.

As you all know
Rob and I were the best of friends,
always by each other's side
until the very end.

Robert was like no other,
he was one of a kind.
Once he lied about his age,
to get behind enemy lines.

When I got in a car crash,
he was there.
He even helped me pay
for my car repair.

When my wife left me,
he was by my side.
He wouldn't want me to tell you,
but it was his shoulder on which i cryed.

He was always there
through the good and the bad.
He was my best man,
in that wedding I had.

He stood my my side
when I dyed my hair pink when turning 21.
Not only did he stand there,
but he joined in on the fun.

But I guess what I am trying to say,
is that he was like a brother to me.
We will all miss him so much,
but in out hearts and minds he will always be."

And with that said,
he let out a sigh,
and said,"I will miss him even more
as each day does by."

With a glistening tear
in his left eye
he welcomed the people
to come say a last goodbye.

As the people lined up
to say their final goodbyes,
the priest know his friend wasn't dead;
he would live on in the people's hearts and lives.

A touching story, but the rhymes were too forced.

"but in out hearts and minds he will always be."
I believe you meant "our". =)

    "As you all know
Rob and I were the best of friends,
    always by each other's side
    until the very end."

This is the stanza at which everything esle after it seemed to forced. Everything before it was fine and very good.

Nice job. That was really sad, but I like how the ending has a happier outlook, that he will live on through the people. It was splendid.
