Shattered Dreams

by williamcampbell   Aug 12, 2005

A sheet of white is on the ground,
For snow is falling all around.
A snowflakes fall and catch the light,
I fall asleep, my mind takes flight.
Back to a time when all was well,
The day we heard our wedding bells.
Then to the time when we found out
I was a dad, there was no doubt.
But then all changed, lights filled the air;
I looked for you, you were not there.
I asked for you and someone said,
That you were gone, that you were dead.
Those cold, dark hands squeezed out your life.
The words they said, cut like a knife.
A drunken man had took your life;
He took my joy, my love, my life.
So, if you drink, please, don't dare drive,
'Cause we can't keep the dead alive
