Trembling, staring, with tears in my eyes,
my mind drifts aimlessly and lands in the past.
A streak runs down my cheek and dampens
my clothes as I study the shadows I cast.
The sun shines bright, but a storm brews in here,
Joy is all around, but to me it never draws near.
My body shivers and I search for warmth in this place.
I look and look, I finally give up, but then
I feel it on my face.
A door opens and you walk through the door.
You take me in your arms and lift me off the floor.
Tears roll down my face, but now they're tears of joy.
Loneliness and fear leave me, and I become coy.
You've saved me from my circle of destruction and shown me love.
You've taught me how to live, and for you,
I thank the Lord above.
