Awoken

by BreatheNoMore   Aug 14, 2005

Water stings against the sunburn
Hands shake with unintended intoxication
Clarity sifting through mind like jagged bits of sandstone
Sadness awoken from last nights dream
She lies wearily with high but useless self-esteem

Breath paved whispers
Energy intense
Held within such lucid thoughts
When extracted seem to make no sense

Towel thrown down with hopelessness
She sinks over her head
She closes her eyes and contemplates
Every word she’s ever said

Sadness resurrected from last night’s dream
It’ll be hours until she sleeps again
Much too long to wait for meaning
Within the things that never did make sense

Awoken
From night’s departing themes
Broken down
Still sleeping it seems
