Angel

by Peter Williams   Aug 14, 2005

Out of breathe,
Throat is dry.
Hard to speak,
But not to cry.
The things I want to say,
Why do I fear them?
The way you make me feel,
Like that of a rare gem.
The things that happened,
No way of going back.
I’ve been hurt before,
Strength is something my heart lacks.
But with you it’s different,
With you I feel safe.
You’re all that I think about,
It’s the world I can’t face.
I like to fall fast,
I don’t care if I hit the ground.
My breath gets shorter,
As my heart begins to pound.
Butterflies in my stomach,
A tear in my eye.
As my heart starts to flutter,
The heavens begin to cry.
I took a breath,
Before I took the plunge.
Should I slow down and rest?
Before my soul starts to lunge.
Another fool’s hope,
As push comes to shove.
Don’t you see, my angel?
It’s you that I love.
