My Poem For You

I remember my first day at school,
You were sitting there on the school bench,
Joking, laughing with your friends,
You welcomed me with your smiling face.
You were one of those people that were popular with all,
Boys and girls, teachers and students, the young and old.
Your positive attitude to life,
Your face always with a smile,
No wonder the guys went crazy over you.
Never did I think you'd become one of my best friends,
I always thought you were too out of reach.
But getting you alone,
Talking to you more,
I realized that you're like me.
Behind that smile you always wear,
I see a little girl just wanting to be loved,
A girl who may seem strong to all around her,
But really she feels weak.
Even when your world is crumbling down,
You wouldn't let anybody see you cry.
As days, weeks, months went past,
Our friendship has blossomed,
In to the beautifulest of all flowers.
But like all flowers,
This one needs love, care, for it to grow,
Much like the friendship we share.
Sometimes we take each other for granted,
Sometimes our flower gets choked by the weeds,
But we ALWAYS see it through,
We're always there for each other,
Whatever the weather.
So to know you're crying,
Feeling so helpless, lost in despair,
I don't know what I can do.
I try my best, as I offer you comforting words,
Wanting you to see the brighter light.
I do know what you're going through,
I'm here to listen to you,
When you fall down I'll be right here to pull you back up again,
I'll guide you through the darkness,
Holding your hand tight never letting it go,
And fighting your fears.
Whenever you feel everybody is against you,
When nothing is going right,
Remember this poem for you,
Day or night, I'll be here for you.

*I know its weird to describe a friendship like a flower, but I really do think it is. It takes work to make a flower grow, it requires the right amount of water and sunlight, and a friendship requires love and care to work.
This poem is dedicated to somebody special. She knows exactly who she is.
