A Broken Proposal

by FNO   Aug 14, 2005

She stood by his side
To give him a kiss
One he deserved
The one that she missed

If she had only knew
The loved he had for her
He wouldn't be missing
How blue her eyes were

She thought he was pretending
The love he shared was a lie
But he wasn't pretending
As she told him good-bye

He loved he dearly
But couldn't quite say
How much he loved her
Until she left him that day

But it was already too late
She had walked out the door
Before he could give an answer to
"Do you love me anymore?"

The answer was yes
But it had came to late
For she was out the door
Leaving his heart to break

He ran down to the basement
A note in his hand
The one he was going to give her
Just like he had planned

The day of his funeral
His parents handed her the note
She couldn't believe
the words he had wrote

"Without You I am nothing
With you i am the world
Today is the day
I will ask you to be my girl

I had the ring ready
But a lump was in my throat
So i couldn't quite say it
So I'm writing it in this note

So answer me this
And answer me true
Do you except my marriage proposal
Will you say I do?"

She leaned down beside him
Her eyes a sorryful blue
As they lowered his cascet
She whispered "I do"
