Enlighten Me

by Garrett   Aug 15, 2005

Walk and drive and work and sleep
Until you’ve reached your height in the hierarchy
You’ll be content with what you do
And aware of who you are
You’ll be enlightened
Will you enlighten me?

She gets down on herself
And down on this world
They say it’s for attention
But she wants something more
She knows she’s alone
Will you be alone with me?

Losing faith in hope-based economy
But if the weather’s good
And the timing is right
You will shop your life away
And you will smile
Will you help me smile?

My tears and blood have left me here
Alone with my so called life
He’s on his way out the door
But that’s okay
Cause I won’t cry
Will you cry for me?

You're poems are so very interesting, and they require one to read them several times before they can truly appreciate the work gone into writing it, ang the expression behind the poem. It wasn't until the third time that I read it, that I truly appreciated the poem, and realized just how wonderful it really is. Great job, I will look forward to more poems from you. Keep me posted on new ones!!
