Hero

The lil boy stood tall and proud,
While the teacher told him all the daddy's were here except his.
A single tear ran down his face,
when he replied to his teacher.
My daddy couldn't come today,
cause he's very far away.
See he left for war months ago,
and hasn't come back yet to this day.
He was fighting for our freedom,
when something terrible happened to him.
They said he was very strong,
but couldn't hold on very long.
My mommy cried a lot,
but I told her that,
even though daddy is gone,
he is still our hero.
But all she did was smile,
and hold me tight.
So sorry Mrs. Teacher,
my daddy couldn't come today,
cause you see he's still very far away.
