A new poetry form test. (Odd & Even)

by Steven Beesley   Aug 17, 2005

Is it true?
This is a new form
Trying this, turning me blue
I will try something far from the norm

To exercise
All those little Grey cells
Not easy to conceptualize
But first I must really learn how to spells?!?

New
A Test

Odd & Even:
I'm am not sure whether or not there is in fact any poetry form that has been developed in the past that follows the rules of this form. I have developed this new poetry form. As far as I have researched, there is no form currently similar to this one.

Having said that, this is a experimental poem of my newly developed poetry form. If anyone has details of a form with a syllable structure and rhyming scheme that matches this one, please let me know and I will stand corrected.

But for now, I have called this new form "Odd & Even."

The rules for the form: -

A total of 3 stanzas, the first 2 stanzas comprise of 4 lines each. The last stanza has only 2 lines.

The syllable count and rhyme scheme is as follows: -

Stanza 1 (Odd Syllable Counts)

Line 1 - 3 Syllables A
Line 2 - 5 Syllables B
Line 3 - 7 Syllables A
Line 4 - 9 Syllables B

Stanza 2 (Even Syllable Counts)

Line 1 - 4 Syllables C
Line 2 - 6 Syllables D
Line 3 - 8 Syllables C
Line 4 - 10 Syllables D

Last Stanza (Odd & Even Syllables)

Line 1 - 1 Syllable E
Line 2 - 2 Syllables F
