Untitled

Her body tired from deception
Fake laughs; she couldn't pretend
A young heart given freely
Stands, broken once again.

His promises of care and protection
Words, deep only as skin
Left hollow spaces deep in her life
And her bed, where he had once been

She cried to herself; thought never again
This time would surely be last
Overpowered by lust and allurement
Unwittingly reliving her past

A naive heart and shallow mind
Fooled by misleading charm
Loving was all that he came for
Did it matter if it caused her harm?

She gave to him her everything
Asked nothing but love in return
Given nothing but deluding hope
Her emotions warranted no concern

Life and hope passing slowly
Through the hours at phone that she spends
Fiercely oblivious to her passions
His hours spent chasing her friends

A broken heart can be untouchable
Bearing, like the weight of the world
But out of the ashes of love's burnt flame
Her heart will soon again swirl

While tears may seem consuming
A smile soon replaces her frown
As long as she keeps hope in herself
Nothing will ever keep her down
