Divorce

by Joy Coleman   Aug 17, 2005

Daddy said he'd be back in 2 weeks

I said "Okay" as his truck rolled away

I stepped in the house and saw Mom crying

I asked her "Mom, what's wrong?"

She looked into my confused eyes and said that word

Divorce

"NO! HE'S COMING BACK! MOM YOUR LYING!" I screamed

"No, dear. I'm not. Now come give me a hug" Mother said in a jerked up voice

I hugged my mother with no tears in my eyes

I knew she was wrong Daddy wouldn't lie

2 weeks rolled by and Daddy's truck pulled in

I ran out to him and told him what Mom said

"She's right. We are getting divorced. Joy, I'm sorry" Daddy replied

I ran to my room, fell to the floor and cried

Why me? We were so happy?

Why did they have to get that divorce?

very good poem, its sad but i know what its like.. my parents separated when i was 2 and when they got enough money finally got a divorce when I was 7, I used to wish they would get back together but I know now that its better to be divorced than to live life miserably living a lie, hang in there, and if you would like to email me my email is spgal92@yahoo.com, I think this is one of the longest comments I have ever wrote but your poem touched me and I thought you did a really good job and felt the emotion, again great job, 5/5.
