A Lost Soul

I feel like I've been torn in half
like the sunshine state is pulling me back
i try to find excuses to cry
but it's difficult, no matter how hard i try
I'm the echo of footsteps in the halls
the voice reverberating off these walls
i don't like to show weakness or fear
so i always try to hide my tears
i feel lost inside my heart
i don't even know where to start
it's hard to play the role i must
with so many people that i can't trust
am i missing a page in this great book?
or should i take a closer look?
are all the answers in front of my face?
or should i look for their hiding place?
i keep thinking: did i make the right choice
when i had to raise my voice?
these unanswered questions remain in my heart
that's what keeps tearing me apart
