Looking away from what used to be

by jaki   Aug 19, 2005

As she turns around
She looks at her own reflection
It’s not what she expected
Nor does she recognise what she sees

She sees a girl with smudged mascara
With scars and bruises
And broken eyes
With a deep sadness behind them

She’s used to seeing the girl
With the smile always there
And the eyes so full of hope
But all that has gone

Ever since that day
When everything changed
And tore the happiness away
She’s been silently broken

She’s been hiding away for way to long
And has been faking that smile
For a day to many
She came to believe of what was fake

Soon enough she knew she would crack
And that perfect ness would leave
But along with everything else she did
She did it silently

She looks at herself
And sees nothing but a mess
To screwed up to fix
And with nobody to even try

She takes one last look
And turns away
She clears the mascara
And goes back to her life

Sitting in the middle row
Of classroom 53
She hurts
Knowing that reality is soon to show

Looking away from what used to be
She smiles once again
Hiding from the once renewed pain
And waiting for somebody
To come and fix her troubled mind
