Run

by Greta Miller   Aug 19, 2005

No one knows
What lengths I would go
To escape the pain
When there was nothing left to gain
I loved you so much
To me, you meant the world
I never knew
What I would do without you
Never thought that day would come
That day came and I went numb
It still hadn\'t sunk in
I watched you die
There was nothing to do but cry
Couldn't shake the helpless feeling
my life was sent reeling
I couldn't help you
I couldn't save you
As you slowly slipped away
In that hospital bed
For the third time the cancer had spred
This time you couldn't fight
Or make it though just one more night
You weren't alone
We were right there
with you for those rough ten days
When I knew you had taken that final breath
All I wanted to do was
Run
As far as I could
As fast as I could
As long as I could
To stunned to speak
Couldn't stand I was to weak
Today it sunk in
And today I ran.
