Perpetual Hiatus

by vanessarrr   Aug 19, 2005

Perpetual hiatus-
My own oxymoron...
But thus, is the story
Of my rueful abandon.
How should I put it?
Oh, how should I say?
My pen was deserted.
My thoughts left astray.
Wasn’t it writer’s block?
But, what an excuse!
To something so vial-
I stayed in denial…
Well, I might’ve been
Also confused.
To understand poetry…
It is such a mystery.
Could anyone here
Give me an explanation
Of how I should read,
How I should voice,
Or how I should comprehend
A poem of my choice?
Sometimes it seems
In willful neglect,
Those poems are something
You can just dissect.
Dismiss the emotions,
The story, the passion
The striking illusions,
The meaning within,
In order to find
The elements, the rhymes,
The rhythm, the lines
The format, those signs…
But, please do refine
This writing of mine.
Because that’s what we need.
That’s what we crave.
A poem so drastic
That it shall engrave
Itself into memory
To a tolerable degree.
One that would have you
Firmly in its hands
And never let’s go
Until you understand…

to be continued...

I agree, I was looking for a poem that would catch my attention from the beginning to last, and this one did..Like it very much, espicially the ending..
