War of Wars

by williamcampbell   Aug 20, 2005

Oh, War of wars,
That was like no other.
Turned father against son,
And brother against brother.

This war left homes,
And families divided.
When two great armies,
On the battlefield collided.

The land was ravaged,
With carnage grief and pain.
And all across the land,
Absolute terror reigned.

For these four years,
Many men died.
Caused fatherless children,
And widowed wives.

When the war was ended,
In eighteen hundred and sixty-five.
Our nation was still standing,
And surprisingly we survived.

We began rebuilding,
And pretty soon we found.
We were creating ,
The greatest nation around.
