Poetic Commandments

by Michael D Nalley   Aug 21, 2005

We search for a flawless flow
That inspired artist can know
We search silently in vain
Avoiding words so profane

Keeping holy the Lords day
As sacred words show the way
Honor parents of the past
The Word made flesh first to last

We must all live and let live
We must not take lest we give
Commit without adultery
To unions eternally

From our heart what we may feel
A gift from God we can’t steal
Share only truth, it is right
Seek not darkness over light

Covet not my words, nor my wife
The two are one for my life
And what is yours is not mine
Lest it be a gift divine
