I Will Stay

by Dee   Aug 21, 2005

I wonder if my little girl can see
The sadness in my eyes
Does she wonder where I am
When I run away to cry

Does she know my struggles
And all I sacrifice
Does she know I am not happy
In a marriage cold as ice

Does she know my hopes and dreams
Fade away with time
The longing for my one true love
Seems like a never ending rhyme

Does she know I stay here
So I don't break up her happy home
Even though I live solitaire
Surrounded, but still alone

Every other weekend visits
Battles for custody
Is just too complicated
For her little life to be

I cannot put her through that
I want her to grow up
With a Mommy and a Daddy
Both home to give her love

To help her with her homework
To encourage her to chase her dreams
To help her to be stronger
When the kids can be so mean

To attend her school functions
To watch her when she plays
To try to reason with her
When she wants to follow the latest craze

Both of us need to love her
It would be so unfair
If one of us walked away
And left her standing there

We cannot divide her
We both care so much
So we will make this work out
Even when times get tough

Until she is older
I will put my life on hold
Then find my one true love
And give away my soul

If this is true, she will understand
the longer you wait, the more they understand. and the longer you wait, the harder it will be on her

This is so amazin but if its true you shouldn't stay in a relationship just to safe the child pain. they pick up on tension and will know there is something wrong.really brilliant poem tho!x
