Ask

Prom is so far away
yet it is so near
it worries me to no end
it instills a great fear
i know who i want to ask
but i'm afraid she'll say no
i freak as second semester looms
maybe i won't even go
how can i ask you
i swear i don't have a chance
then again i just might
and with you i'd get to dance
'just think about it
you never know unless you try'
that sounds good enough
after all i'm just a regular guy
and maybe if that risk is taken
you'll find out something new
perhaps you were made for me
and i was made for you
we'll never know unless we try
we may never try if i don't ask
so come second semester this year
that will be my task

i'm freakin about asking a certain person to prom, in case you didn't catch that. i wrote this when i got home from the Dairy Bar.
