Not The Same Girl

by Bruce Gould   Aug 22, 2005

Your innocence, kindness and cuteness,
Girl, those are the things I fell in love with.
But, nothing stays the same.
Baby, you are not the girl I fell in love with.

It took him a week to slide into paradise.
Baby, that ain’t the girl I love.
No, no, not the girl that made me wait six months for a kiss.
Baby, you ain’t the same.

You may not know it, but girl, I hear so many stories.
I can’t believe the stuff I hear.
Things you say used to be just for us.
Baby, you are not the girl who stole my heart.

The people you use to hate are the ones you’re now around.
What happened to the girl that couldn’t be around alcohol?
What happened to the innocence I adored?
No baby, you are not that girl anymore.

I know you’re still better than most,
But, baby, it’d be a lie to say you’re the same.
No, you are not the girl I knew.
Baby, you are not the girl that I love.
