Summer Fun

by one*beautiful*mess   Aug 22, 2005

School is out and summer is here.
The scorching heat pours sweat from your skin.
The overwhelming blast of cold water,
When you jump in the pool and make a big splash.
And behind your back when you least expect it,
The birds sneak a dip to cool their silky feathers.
When school is out and summer is here.

Picnics in the park passing lemonade around,
Bugs crawling over and around your food
Makes it all the more fun.
Lying int he grass playing pictionary with the clouds
While big black beatles sneak through your hair,
Then screaming when you realize their presence.
When school is out and summer is here.

Spending time on the lake surrounded by family and friends,
Competing to catch the biggest fish,
But catching the smallest and naming him Fred.
Tubing, skiing, being pulled behind a boat,
Falling and wiping out is the best part of all.
When school is out and summer is here.

Staying in the sun for way too long,
Burnt to a crisp and begging for more.
Red as blood but you still don't care
Because you're having fun in the summer air.
When school is out and summer is here.

End of August and there is still scorching weather,
But time to go back home and get back to work,
Because summer is over and school is here.
