What if it were you?

What would you do if it were you?
you were the one with the problem
and people only Criticized
"you only do it for attention"
"it doesn't help you at all it's pointless"
what would you do if you were crying out for help
and no one listened to you
because you cut.
how would you feel if you were walking the line?
if you were the one close to suicide?

you would care a lot more
you wouldn't be so quick to criticize
or to scorn and give us nasty titles
you wouldn't be so judgmental
and you would certainly look at us differently

so think about things that way
some of people do it for attention
yes that is true
but let me tell you something
most of us need help
most of us are true and real
and it's our only way to truly feel

so next time you see someone who cuts themselves
or you hear about someone with the problem
why not give them a chance
and not base your opinion on their actions

because us "cutters" are the true ones
next time you feel the need to criticize
look at yourself first
realize what you're doing wrong
then you'll see what others may think

with the poems about cutting
the truth comes out
you should realize the EPIDEMIC
that has come about

so instead of saying "screw you"
or something along those lines
you should realize
THIS IS REAL!
you have to look at it
for it is an addiction
that can lead to death

but if you truly want us to lose all hope
to forget about the good
to give up on the help we need
and secretly crave
if you are truly that sick
and wish for us to die
think we are "posers begging for attention"
then go along and judge us
then it will be you to blame
you knocked down our spirits
you tore us down

look in the mirror
look and see whats wrong
some people have eating disorders
some may pop pills
some may drink excessively
or hide behind the drugs

but then again
it's only cutting thats wrong
it's only cutting that's getting the attention

why not look around
instead of being a heartless fu(k
try being a FRIEND
