Fallen Butterflies

by xdiamondwingsx   Aug 29, 2005

Like rubies and diamonds
That sparkle and gleam
Like multi-colored quits
Without a stich or a seam

Fluttering, flying
Dancing in the breeze
Flitting and floating
Between the leaves on the trees

Soundless but beautiful
Meek and sweet
Thousands of them dancing
In a butterfly fleet

Gently with grace
From a sky grey and bleak
They land on your face
And tickle your cheek

In the distance, a rumble
A lightning flash and a roar
Butterflies scattering
Too scared to soar

Rain drops so large,
Wet and cold
Those poor little butterflies
Their wings snap and fold

Butterflies broken
Falling to the ground
Dying and weeping
As the thunder sounds

Fallen butterflies
So beautiful and meek
Fallen from a sky
Dark, grey and bleak
