The accident

We had got into a fight
and he said he was going to cool down
i sat there with all the lights off
waiting for him to get back

The more moments that passed,
the more angry i got,
but i was more scared
then i got a call

I almost didn't answer
since it was 3 in the morning
but when i did a voice
told me there had been an accident

It seems he was coming back
and a car hit him as he was walking across a street
I ran into the hospital

The doctors told me that there was nothing i could do
it was all up to him
I sat next to him
but he didn't move

I talked to him
told him i loved him
told him i was sorry
Then i held his hand

as soon as i did this
i started to fall asleep
but then a voice said
I love you too.

I thought i was dreaming
tears falling as i looked up
he was weakly smiling
he pulled me over

and kissed my head
and then his eyes closed again
and i sat bye him all night
his eyes didn't open again for 2 months

i didn't leave his side
and when he opened his eyes
all he had to say was
how long was i out
and i'm sorry
