Dear Sarah

Do you remember being happy,
And how you use to be,
Do you remember singing out loud,
And letting your spirit run free.

Do you remember the good things,
And how you use to feel,
Do you remember life being simple,
And the emotions you felt were real.

Do you remember your smile,
Before you use to cry,
Do you remember that twinkle of hope,
That has faded from your eyes.

Do you remember that shimmer of strength,
That has fallen to the ground,
Do you remember the laughter you had,
Before you started to frown.

Do you remember your hopes and dreams,
That you’d express out loud,
Do you remember living life,
And walking around so proud.

Do you remember liking yourself,
When you looked back in the mirror,
Do you remember the trust of others,
The trust of others that you know fear.

Do you remember your achievements and goals,
And a future that you had planned,
Do you remember wanting to explore the world,
A cruel world you can not stand.

Do you remember being happy,
And how you could have been,
I miss the way you use to be,
I miss the way you were back then.
