Always the same

We met one night really late
In my mind I still remember it all
Even down to the exact time and date
It was after me and my boy
Had yet another fight
You were somehow able to make it all alright
And an instant connection
We seemed to share
Because of you I realized my worth
And me and my boy no longer were

you were there for me like no one had been before
my best friend you became
friends forever I thought
but you didn’t feel the same
you wanted something more
you were just waiting for me to fall
and the day I did
you said I made you complete
couldnt believe
how I had the power
to sweep you off your feet

for a while things were great
almost perfect but then they changed
and for some reason
from that point then
I knew things would never be the same again
The fights started up the same
You became me ex that very day
Hurt me more than I had ever been hurt before
Made up reasons which were poor
Yet I took you back like each and every time before

The day came though
When I decided I had enough
Taking in all this pain made my life so rough
I changed my mind
And closed the door
The love we shared was now gone
And I knew I couldn’t do it all again
So that’s when I decided right there and then
That no longer would I give away my heart
I would always hold it close right from the start
Keep it hidden and locked away
Cause the lessons that you taught me still stay with me
Till this very day
