The Abyss

by Bill Turner   Aug 30, 2005

As I stared into the abyss
Drawn towards the brink
I didn’t have you to miss
From your love, I had yet to drink

I was alone in the night
My soul adrift on the sea
My life far from right
There was no saving me

You threw me a line
Pulling me towards you
Saving me from a life of “fine”
Your love, a feeling so new

Now I sail on the sea of life
You standing by my side
Immeasurable love, husband and wife
My chest filling with pride

We are living out our dream
Deeply, passionately in love
So happy we could scream
Guided from above

    Deeply, passionately in love
strong line, it shows more depth. The poem was good, but some parts seemed forced. 4/5
