Animal Crackers

by Lucy Loves Not   Aug 30, 2005

Tell me Zebra,
Are you intimidated?
The lion stalks you
and you're so exposed

Healthy enough to run,
You should be able to make it.

That is, until I take your
left foot.

My older brother holds
the lion crooked in his hand,

"I am the mighty beast!
Behold my power."

Watch out Zebra!
The lion flies toward the
three-legged Zebra.

I race him across the room,
feet running through imagined
grassy fields.

Run Zebra!

The lion gets a hold,
and sinks in his claws.

The Zebra loses it's head.

Tell me Zebra,
could you have run faster
if I never took your leg?
