Traffic Light Raindrops

by xdiamondwingsx   Aug 31, 2005

***this is based on things I was looking at and thinking of last night in my dad's truck as we drove home.***

There's raindrops on the window
That's rolled half-way down
They're tiny but perfect circles
Small enough to disappear if they'd hit the ground

I close one eye
And slouch down in my seat
Staring at the raindrops reflecting the red of the traffic light
Across the street

For some reason it seems mystical
They way they crystalize
And I find it so hard
To draw away my eyes

The lights change to green
And it looks even more neat
I shift around and stare at the other raindrops
From where I am in my seat

Finally we drive again
And the drops no longer reflect
Memories of the traffic light
We'd already left

But now I notice
That the sky is grey
But strange and foggy;
Not something you see everyday

The fog moved swifly
Across the sky
I love the view so much
I don't even care why

The wind on my face
I stare at the horizon that darkens to black
Sighing contentedly
I rest on my back

Sometimes the rainy nights
Are the best nights of all
The smell of the dew and the changing leaves
The essence of fall.
