Katrinas Wrath

by JL   Sep 1, 2005

Staring at the devastation
Where my home once stood
Sunday we got in a car and drove
Taking all that we could

Now looking through the wreckage
Trying to find something to comfort
All that remains of my room is a wall
And some pictures hidden in dirt

Most of the neighborhood died
They could not get out fast enough
Wind to strong, water to high
They were buried under their own stuff

Little Janie can not find her folks
Has not seen them since Monday
Holding on to their hands tight
Before the winds ripped them away

We have no electricity,
Plumbing, food, nor water
Kids can not find their parents
Parents can not find their sons or daughters

Digging holes to bury the dead
While people loot things they do not need
Why worry about tvs, and movies
When so many mouths have to feed

Relief efforts are on the way
But so many die each day
A prayer daily I say
Thanking God that I am okay

**pray for those lost in hurricane Katrina**
