Child of an Addict

by NIKKI~B~   Sep 1, 2005

I may had been a mistake, but God put me here for a reason,
Whether it was to help you change your life, or give your life a reason

Because of the men, drugs, and life styles we no longer trust
Your addition so strong, it took you away from all of us

To choose something that only makes you happy for a bit
A lifetime of love is what I was suppose to get

It is not what I received at all from YOU
But thank the Lord I was given family and friends, which have stayed true

Nothing can ever fill the void in my heart
Of a mother's love, never given that chance to start

It is not just I who feels this way
Always remember the other four that you just gave away

All of us could have been a family with a Mother and a Father
But because of your addiction, all we are is just a bother.

I am the mother now, and my past will never replay
For my motherly love will be given in the Christian way

Unconditional, and with every ounce that I have to give
And with every day I am given the gift to live

I look at my babies at night while they lay
And I make the promise to them that in my arms they will forever stay

Now please explain to us, why you
could not do the same?
