Shooting Star

by Weeping Wolf   Sep 2, 2005

So many memories
Of a friendship shared
So many ways
You showed you cared

Old friend, I miss you dearly
And wonder where you are now
Our last words were forgotten
For I don't know why you left or how

We used to play make-believe
Together every remembered day
But now the memories have faded
into the past of yesterday

How long has it been now?
I can't even remember
The last time I saw your face
Before you left forever

Your smile welcomed me in
As I reminisce on when we met
Your eyes, so young and sweet
You the friend I won't forget

I've tried to contact you
But you would never call back
I hope you still remember me
For your friendship I still lack.

I wonder if your dead, or alive
Another friend gone and past
Sometimes I fear the worst
Wish at least one memory could last

I cry and think of you
A friend that I once knew
Shot through me life like a Shooting Star
But sadly, it seems you've soared too far

I look up to the sky still hoping
I will see you again some day
But in my heart I know it true
That you are gone and away

Like a shooting star, though me life you flew
Over and in my life, Too fast you went by
I will forget you and your dreams never
But we never had a last hug or last goodbye

Ya, you shot through my life like a shooting star....

*Dedicated to my old friend Chloe, and all my friends who have past through my life too fast but will never be forgotten.*

I like the last few stanzas the most...too bad friendships can fade so quickly... nicely written...

Thank you very much for the comments and compliment.
The part of you that still believes love and marriage can last, hold onto it dearly. You will find him (the right guy), and everlasting and true love is possible, only getting rarer these days. Keep believing, doubts are normal, but don’t stop believing all together...that's what is important.

"Unrequited For Now" was written for The Unrequited, but part of it goes to all the unrequited ones out there, as yourself.
