You are so close,
But you're heart's onto another day.
It's so easy for you to walk by
And for me to walk away.
Why can't I just talk to you
And say what I really feel?
Am I scared of what we could be
Or more afraid of setting down my shield?
Why should I be worried?
No one has cared before.
I guess after a heart's been broken
It's still a little sore.
You're kind and soft-spoken
And your soul set sail on a smile.
My heart went with you on the maiden voyage
And you still don't know after all this while.
It's hard to let go of a feeling
That makes you so secure.
But could also trap time in a moment
And bring an end to your whole world.
Maybe it's the thrill of not knowing
Or the bottom falling out of my heart once again.
Maybe it's the way the moon seeks the morning
And the fact that you're also my best friend.
