The Gate

by Nefarius   Sep 2, 2005

I taste the bitter smell of fate
As I stand before this gate
I take a glimpse of what's beyond
But when I call no one respond

So should I dare to make the step
And go through this door which has kept
All of the damned and even more
For it is just a one-way door

I know I leave all life behind
That is the toll for me to find
The answers of my turmoiled mind

Oblivion
To you I've come
For help I'll call
Don't let me fall

so art thou sure to question me?
for I am more than you can see
I'm not amused to be commanded
not answer all what I'm demanded

Please let me speak my single woe
For no one else on earth does know
Please answer it before you go

yes, with wisdom I am graced
but no mortal ever paced
all the steps that this way owns
all are shattered to their bones

I've gone a long way to be here
And how I see this gate so near
Has taken now away all fear

so I will answer like I feel
and if fortune wants I will reveal
the answer that you have expected
which from your side can't be neglected

I've heard the risk of this before
And thought a lot about and more
But still I want to pass the door

Oh vanity
Please answer me
A question that
Has made me mad

So you have more senses than five
I will not struggle, will no strife
Please tell me - why am I alive?
