The Greatest

by Tom   Sep 2, 2005

A small boy, skates around the rink;
With his stick and a puck, and begin to think:
"I am the Greatest, that there ever was."
He stares at the goal and slips on his gloves.

Goes to the center for his penalty shot;
Skates towards the goal and slaps the puck.
He watches it fly, his eyes start to glow
Listens to the crowd as it hits the post.

Goes to the center for his penalty shot
Skates towards goal and slaps the puck,
Gives it all he's got from his big heart
He watched it bounce off the cross-bar.

"I am the greatest, greatest of all time."
Looks at the net and tries one more time.

He skates to the center for his penalty shot
Skates towards the goal and takes his shot.
Stares at it in slow motion, hopes it's enough,
And finally it flies into the goalie's glove.
He says: "I am the greatest, just you wait and see."
He'll be the one who re-writes history
