How can you lose someone?
You never really had?
How can you miss that someone?
And how can it hurt so bad?

You think you're winning,
This forever-running race,
Until you fall head over heels,
That's when you know; you've lost the chase.

You spend hours,
Crying yourself to sleep at night.
Searching, and hoping,
To find that small and nearly transparent light.

You wake in the morning,
Unable to face the day,
All this because of you,
Yes, you made me this way.

Each tear that falls,
Like acid on your skin,
This barrier, your protection,
Begins to wear and starts to thin.

You scream for him,
But nowhere near out loud.
The missing piece of you,
You thought you'd finally found.

But, how painfully wrong you were.
Yet again, another broken heart,
You could easily give you up,
But you just can't seem to part.

No matter how much he seems to hurt you,
You can't seem to let you go.
Still, all these emotions you feel,
He will never ever know.
