I've been searching forever

My little forgotten love
The world forbade us then
So our hands never met to match
The touch was simply implied

Still our eyes meet eagerly
And our hearts skipped tell tale beats
We said words that screamed how close it was
The everything that got away

We traveled smiling our true heartaches
Knowing timing was the only wrong left
That still kept us from becoming so right
The love was there, just in different form

I wish I ever knew how this did become
The road we so traveled together but alone
The misspelling in time that is strangest in this end
