Regret

Its a shame to lose a lover
But worse to lose a friend
And to lose them both at once
Seems to be the end

But I had to do it
And I hope we both know why
And I wanted you to know
That you still make me cry

I think about you far too much
The friend Ive lost for good
But I loved you in a way,
Which you misunderstood

I know my chance is over
And I regret it everyday
And the absence of our friendship
Is the price I have to pay,

I wish that I could rewind time
To when you told me how you felt
Id end it all, then and there
But deep inside Id melt

All those memories that we wouldnt share
The words we wouldnt say
And now I think about it,
Time travels not the way

I know so much about you
It seems a shame to let it waste
And so I think its time
That my feelings must be faced

I see only one solution
As I so often do
And once I gather the courage
Ill send this poem to you
