Each night begins the tradition
Draw the water slip into the bath,
Lather the soap and wash all my cares away
Bring the cloth to my skin
Swipe here scrub there, paying special attention to my face.
Must remove the days trash and makeup waste
Step out of the bath towel off and dress,
But oh the rituals ain't done yet.
Slowly delicately lift my hands to my face and smooth the skin.
Peel away the eyebrows, Careful Now!
Wouldn't want them to tear,
Pluck away the eyelashes one by one
Blow them off my finger tips
(Each one a wish well earned don't you think?)
Now for the mouth pull it off and out,
No need for smiles in my dreams,
No one will notice anyways.
The nose is quite difficult you know,
Removing it without breaking its frame,
It gets easier with time.
And finally the eyes, slowly pulling them out of the sockets,
And untangling the veins,
Placing them in the proper receptacles.
Then a stumble to bed once I’m faceless again.
