Two days & one night

by Mac   Sep 5, 2005

I have never been one to dream about my future, nor to envision my fate

Yet lately I look to it as a blank wall surrounded by painted barriers

Sitting there across from me, laughing teasing taunting and betraying

My self doubt in personal plans

You have beckoned me to take up my brush

As frail as its few bristles are, and to map out my dreams

A corset of blue, a tint of lavender among white lilies

Hazel strands swept into cords and serpentine designs

Then wrapped in cream gossamer, veiled from hungry eyes

Two unbroken links of silver banded around two separate limbs

Two flames joined together and then celebrated by all

Two words spoken by two very different people

Finally to seal the deal, a parting of two lives

And an entry into a new day

A time to get away and experience a new binding freedom

And then a life of pure existence, accompanied by a new body

Arms with which to hold a cold and tired body

Legs with which to carry the weight of a new burden

Lips with which to long for a kindly touch

And finally, most unashamedly, a fever with which to burn passionately

You have inspired these things, drawn from my mind

And I long for the day, when I will meet you and see

The look in your eyes, when we ‘meet’ for the first time
