When the City Sleeps at Last

by Jemma   Sep 6, 2005

I don’t know where you will find me
Darkness ties but cannot bind me
By city streams, becks must flow
When the time arrives to go

Darkness always lingers
Lies remain in my heart
Hope slips through me fingers
Another now must depart

Hollowed down beneath the ground
Mysteries new, what have you found?

Must you travel more afar?
Will you rest a shining star?
A gliding hand to help another
Should you fall to be the other

Darkness brims as cities fall
Deaths of plenty hear my call
Many lives have come to pass
When the city sleeps at last

Amazing flow and power throughout the poem. Strong ideas, good meter, good style, simply a brilliant poem.

Be careful however with words using apostrophes because this website cant handle it unless you retype them in here, because your word don't has turned into "donâ??t". Also i think you meant "my fingers" not "me fingers" in the 7th line.

This is an incredible piece; I wish you could bookmark poems from your favourite authors- because this would be there. Brilliant work!
