Act as if their still there-9/11

by Chelsey   Sep 6, 2005

As we approach this anniversary of devastation, tragedy, and remembrance
We hold up our flags our heartfilled memories and our pennants
Remembering the ones who died without an option, no choice
I still remember the scene, that sound, their high pitched velocity of voice
Do you remember as much as I?

As we approach this day, being aware of everything around us
Not knowing where to turn nor who we can trust
We reminisce that event, those towers as if it were today
Watching them both come crashing down as we stared blankly in dismay
Do you weep as much as I?

As we approach this day with mournful tears and red eyed
We still stand up tall with a high amount of pride
Their attack of terrorism didn't ruin our smiles
Although I must admit, they were gone for a while
Is your smile still there like mine?

But unite everyone; let's act like their still there
Act as if you never cried or as if your heart did never tear
The people sarificed in the towers would not want it to bring us down
Show them terrorists regardless our world still spins around
Tell me, are you smiling?

Have faith as if their still there, the people, the twin towers
Let's rewind the years, the months, days, and hours
Show them we're still strong, that our flags are still waving
For us to accept their apology, would require endless persuading
Will you forgive them?

So please everyone, believe that their still standing
Just something I'm simply asking to excersise your hope... not demanding
Imagine how proud these Towers and souls would be
If they knew you all were still smiling like me
Do you think they'd be proud?

Now after you read this poem I wrote for all of you
With such inspiration sourced from our country of red, white, and blue
Let's have one small minute of silence to just show we care
But go the rest of the day, as if they were still there ------Chelsey Palm and her bigga titta Eirisa Bickley

Thanks to Eirisa who helped me revise some things in this peice!! I feel it sounds much better then it did! Thank you Big sis I love you!

I appreciate the comment you left on my poem about New Orleans. We both wrote about topics of death and pain, but we went about it very different ways. Where I addressed the cold from without, you addressed the warmth within. Where I was specific, you were general. And where I was pessimistic, your optimism shone through. Very nice poem.

Beautiful job! i still remember that day quite well. my only fears is that this country with time may forget it and not learn from it and the fact that it may repeat it's self once again. i do feel sorry for the people that died in the pentagon and the plain that crashed in the field, they always seemed forgotten, it's always the twin towers remembered, it's sad. but ok loved the poem it's done beautifully!
