Bread of War

by Brian n Josh   Sep 8, 2005

I run from shots with my stomach full
As ghastly screams tear through my battered skull
My vision grows dull
Those Fallen, I am sorry

Started off as a man stealing bread
Government screamed revolt and began pumping lead
I look around, everybody's dead
Those I couldn't rescue, I am sorry

Others came and attempted to save
Wound up shot and buried in a grave
All this for a single hunger crave
Those who tried, I am sorry

Surrounding Countries shouted out War
Spending millions, leaving them poor
Sending in troops, always needing more
Those who were brave, I am sorry

Home I had a loving wife
Together we shared a life of strife
Her beauty was taken from me by an enemy's knife
Those who loved, I am sorry

With her I left a curious son
My actions in life I never would have undone
Except the choice that had him killed with an automatic gun
Those who fathered, I am sorry

Great cities, once so humble
Their towering buildings now tumble
Beneath my feet I watch a beautiful world crumble
Those who lived, I am sorry

Men not knowing rush to their death
Adrenaline clouds them like crystal meth
Heroic men now breathe their last breath
Those who came, I am sorry

No longer recall what the war is for
But men still ravish and rage like a hungry boar
Hopefully soon this will all be ancient lore
Those who remember, I am sorry

Floods down my face is a stream of tears
As I watch military men kill my peers
One little mistake brings hate for years
Those who fear, I am sorry

The world engulfed in a fit of rage
Its battles reaching their golden age
Innocents suffer for the war they rage
Those who hurt, I am sorry

Finally the wind calms and there is no sound
The dust settles to the ground
The people of this conflict, their souls I'm bound
Those suffered, I am sorry

All those who fought have come to die
All this because a man stole a loaf of rye
My confessions must be told, that man is I
Those who realize, I am sorry

A world so cold where men live poor
Seeing others with lives they can only jealously adore
While stealing food to relieve their stomach sore
One loaf is what I took, nothing more
Hellish Nightmares, blood and gore
These are what the world bore
When I stole the bread of war.
