Like a grand thief she arrived
The one they name Katrina
Like an invisible storm she approached.
Arriving full blown without sympathy,
Leaving devastation, death and destruction
On a proportion never seen before
Homes reduced to mere toothpicks
She sucked the life of once great cities
The music, the revelry replaced by silence
Amongst the cries for help and pain
Were mixed those from the bully pulpit
The Monday Morning Quarterbacks
Pointing fingers, playing the blame game
Grandstanding for a vote, passing the buck
All across America came cries of “He Said She Saidâ€
Media ignorance to the ten saying thanks
Only to broadcast the one of an angry voice
We are a nation that tends to react
Many times we fail to prepare
Matters buried in bureaucratic red tape
Cries of greed override those of need
From the polluted flood waters
Emerald city will arise again
Time will pass we will tend to forget
Only to relive yet another day
