My Heart Is With You Tonight

by Bill Turner   Sep 10, 2005

I've seen my share of pain and death
Even helped some make the last, long, lonely walk
I've handled things that would make most people scream
When I heard the pain in your voice I was at a loss
I did not know what to do or say
It killed me inside knowing you felt that way

It sounds cliche but I know what you are going through
I watched my mother die Thanksgiving Day
Losing the woman who helped raise you
In such a quick and dramatic way
I literally felt your pain in my heart
Your suffering was tearing me apart

I promised you a life of happiness and joy
There is no way to shield you from this type of thing
Losing someone so close is a part of life
As you make that long drive, feel my heart with you tonight
Lean on me as that is all I can do
I will quietly love and support you
